Everyday Witches

The ending of a novel is such a complex, exciting thing to write, but also a little bittersweet. I have been working on devising an EPIC BATTLE SCENE to sum up the story and while it’s been so incredibly fun to write, it’s also a little sad knowing that the story is coming to an end. I’ve gotten invested in these characters and their stories and I’ve actually found myself getting a little teary eyed, myself in writing an ending to this whole thing. I think that the ending is going to be really awesome, but then the real work begins. Where to go next? Will the story make it to publication? Will there be a sequel? There are still so many stories to be told in the world of Everyday Witches, and I hope that this isn’t truly the end.

I think that the final scene will be a compelling summation of the story so far, even though I’ve been a little intimidated by coming up with an EPIC BATTLE SCENE. There are so many little pieces to fit together, but I think it’s really coming out well so far. All the character’s timelines have drawn them in to this final point and I’ve even introduced a new character that is I think is going to be a really cool addition to the story. (Spoiler alert- she’s a Dryad!) This is no tree hugging hippie of a Dryad though, she’s a fierce magic wielding force to be reckoned with. While most of my characters so far have been pretty ordinary folk with a little magic under their belts, I took a little inspiration from some reading I’ve been doing and this one is a total bad ass. I think she rounds out the cast of characters and adds an extra dimension to the magical aspects of the story.

All endings lay the seeds for new beginnings though, and I have been laying the groundwork for a continuation to the story with the latest case that Jeff has been working. Mysterious things are still happening in town, with the recent disappearances; and if all goes well the story will continue even after the EPIC BATTLE SCENE and the resolution to Jude’s current situation.

So stay tuned for the final chapter to be released this weekend. It’ll be EPIC!!
